My son’s back-to-school supply list could
have used a proofreader. As I stood in Walmart perusing the items, I had to do a double-take when I saw that I was supposed to purchase an iPad stylist.
So much for back-to-school shopping at Walmart. I should have been in a beauty salon interviewing stylists . . . ones who specialize in iPad makeovers, of course.
Unless . . . wait. I almost grabbed for a red-ink proofreading pen. Of course “stylist” was really supposed to be “stylus.” As in, a non-ink pen for writing on an iPad screen.
Honestly, it was only one little typo—likely courtesy of good ol’ auto-correct or spellchecker—and not a big deal. Teachers writing back-to-school supply lists are busy, busy, busy! I’m sure many parents never even noticed the typo, and for those of us who did, it provided a good laugh—as well as a great opportunity to review the very big difference between two very similar sounding words. Also, it reminds us to beware of auto-correct and spellchecker!
